This relative new discipline in cycling demands a slightly different skill set then road racing or mountain biking. You need the speed of road racing especially for the tail wind sections with high speed and the strength of mountain biking to overcome the loose sand parts.

For a short crit race you don’t need an enormous endurance capacity although a better developed aerobic fitness helps to handle more high intensity workouts. So this plan brings you mostly the explosiveness and sprinting skills you need after every corner with sufficient endurance and tempo workouts.

For a cyclocross race you’ll need to be prepared for a long threshold effort with short Vo2max bursts. You also need the strength to handle though sections, but not an enormous aerobic capacity. This plan will bring you all that.
