KNWU and JOIN are joining forces to better support cyclists in the Netherlands with their training, development, and athletic goals. Through this long-term partnership, the cycling federation combines its knowledge, network, and cycling expertise with one of the leading training platforms for cyclists.

The partnership aligns with KNWU’s ambition to sustainably engage more people in cycling. The focus is not only on experienced riders, but also on recreational cyclists and athletes taking their first steps in the sport. In recent years, JOIN has grown into a renowned training platform, supporting tens of thousands of cyclists with personalized training plans, training analysis, and digital coaching. By working together, KNWU and JOIN, now KNWU’s official training partner, can offer even more value to cyclists who want to ride for fun, health, or performance.

With its award-winning training platform Fondo, KNWU was one of the first sports federations in the Netherlands to invest in its own digital sports offering. Since its launch, Fondo has played an important role in the development of digital cycling training, helping hundreds of thousands of cyclists prepare for races, tours, events, and personal fitness goals. This innovative approach did not go unnoticed, with Fondo receiving several awards in recent years - an achievement KNWU looks back on with pride.

As part of the transition to JOIN, Fondo will be phased out in the coming months. The platform will remain fully operational for the time being. Starting today, users will be informed about their options for switching to JOIN and can count on a smooth transition.

Daniël Heijne, CCO of KNWU, says: “We can best serve our members by investing in collaboration, rather than continuing to develop everything ourselves. By combining KNWU’s strengths with the best available solutions, we strengthen our role as a sports federation. In JOIN, we have found a partner that shares our passion for cycling and offers a robust training platform. Together, we can better support cyclists at every stage of their athletic development.”

Jim van den Berg, CEO and Founder of JOIN, adds: “Cyclists who use JOIN are generally serious about their development, and that fits very well with KNWU members. That makes this partnership feel like a natural step. What makes it even stronger is that we are not stopping at a shared target audience. Together, we will develop new tools that help cyclists make concrete progress. KNWU’s expertise and network, combined with our platform, create a partnership that ultimately benefits the cyclist.”

In the coming period, KNWU and JOIN will jointly develop new initiatives in training, engagement, events, and the overall cycling experience. Fondo users and KNWU members will receive benefits on JOIN, while new activities will help recreational cyclists, regardless of their level, get an even better start.

The collaboration will be visible for the first time during the 2026 Dutch National Road Cycling Championships in Nijmegen.
